The popular social news site Reddit, announced the hacking of several of its infrastructure resources. Company representatives said, that hackers reached to e-mail addresses of users who subscribed to newsletters, as well as backup database for 2007, containing all the content and personal information for two years of site working. Unknown attackers managed to bypass two-factor authentication in accounts, based on confirmation an entry through an SMS message.
Company isn`t hurry to disclose the details of the incident, but we can assume that the hacking was successful because of using of the SIM swap technique, by which the attackers, having personal data of the victim, re-issue or clone the SIM card by contacting the service provider.
